This is a great merit badge. It is really great to learn about hurricanes and other weather phenomena. It is really great to learn about the really large hurricanes like Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Hurricane Rita in 2005 and Hurricane Sandy (the 2012 October “Fankenstorm”). It is really interesting to know that a hurricane can still be considered a tropical system when the outside air temperature is about 35 degrees Farenheit and in the Appalachian Mountains there are 85 miles per hour winds with about 1/2 foot of snow to 1 1/2 feet of snow that is produced by an “Autumn Hurricane” or a “Halloween Hurricane” such as Hurricane Sandy of October, 2012. I suppose there is standing water everywhere you may look.
