Where Does Boys’ Life Get Ideas For Scout Stories?

One of the most common questions I get at Boys’ Life is, “Where do you get the ideas for the stories you write about Boy Scouts?”

The answer? We get them from you.

Seriously, the majority of stories that we print about Scout outings, service projects and otherwise exciting events all got their starts when readers like you contacted us and said simply, “Hey, you might be interested in what we’ve got going on out here in [INSERT TOWN NAME HERE].”

Now, we can’t possibly cover every single event that we hear about, but you never know until you try.

So what’s the best way to contact Boys’ Life with a story idea?

The Scouting Around blog is your source for Scouting news. Get ideas for your troop by reading about Scouting activities across the country. Biking in Buffalo? Caving in California? Fishing in Florida? Mountain climbing in Montana? Shooting in South Carolina? It's all right here.

Is your unit going on a great fishing trip? Or maybe you’re taking an awesome trek in the mountains or a cool dive under the sea? Whatever your adventure, Boys’ Life might want to tag along.

We’re deciding which Super Scouting Outings to feature in future issues, and your trip could be next. But we need to hear about it as far in advance as possible.
