Webelos Scout treks five days in India

Talk about a family vacation.

Sohil Doshi, a 10-year-old Webelos Scout from Pack 462 in Sunnyvale, California, spent five days with his family this summer hiking in Markha Valley through the Himalayan region of India.

The Markha Valley trek is one of the most popular hikes in the Ladakh Region of India.  Sohil and his family started in a village called Chilling and ended in a village called Shang Sumdo.

In between, they walked around 8 hours each day, crossed multiple fast-flowing rivers, spent the night in tiny villages (some with as few as 10-15 houses), saw breathtaking landscapes and got to around 17,000 feet above sea level at Kongmaru La pass.

“I wanted to accomplish the goal of climbing to 17,000 feet,” Sohil says.

His favorite part of the experience?

“Eating noodles,” he says.
