Scouts Provide Clean Water in Africa

Two Boy Scouts from Eatonville, Wash., did a good deed on the other side of the world when they traveled to the African nation of Sierra Leone to provide a poor village with a source of fresh water.

For years, residents of a village called Romankneh have walked a half-mile to a pond several times a day to get water. The pond, which provided water for things like drinking, bathing, washing, brushing teeth and cooking, was contaminated and unhealthy.

So Ryan Collins and Cody Bosarge traveled to Africa with other volunteers to build a well that provides the village’s 250 residents with fresh water.
