With the conclusion of the 2013 National Scout Jamboree this week, the Summit Bechtel Reserve is now officially a high-adventure base. It joins Florida Sea Base, Philmont Scout Ranch and the Northern Tier National High Adventure Bases as high-adventure bases sponsored by the BSA’s National Council.

Visitors to SBR next summer — and beyond — will have the opportunity to experience 13 acres of shooting sports, 37 miles of mountain biking trails and six miles of zip lines. SBR offers four crew-based programs: The River (rafting and kayaking), Helmets and Harnesses (climbing, zip lines and rope courses), The Marksman (shooting sports) and Wheels (mountain biking, skateboarding and BMX).
