The 2013 Jamboree Is Over; Bring On 2014 at The Summit

With the conclusion of the 2013 National Scout Jamboree this week, the Summit Bechtel Reserve is now officially a high-adventure base. It joins Florida Sea Base, Philmont Scout Ranch and the Northern Tier National High Adventure Bases as high-adventure bases sponsored by the BSA’s National Council.

And here’s the best news yet: You can reserve your spot for 2014 right now.

Visitors to SBR next summer — and beyond — will have the opportunity to experience 13 acres of shooting sports, 37 miles of mountain biking trails and six miles of zip lines. SBR offers four crew-based programs: The River (rafting and kayaking), Helmets and Harnesses (climbing, zip lines and rope courses), The Marksman (shooting sports) and Wheels (mountain biking, skateboarding and BMX).

I missed going with my troop to last years Jamboree in D.C. I hope I go this year

  2. Glasshead says:

I went to the Jamboree. For some reason I felt like it wasn’t a scouting event?😬

  3. Lefty says:

Great Jambo!!! Everything was great except the long walks to get to each event. We had a 1 and 1/2 hour walk to Summit Center, which was the hub of all activities. Many PROGRAM people had rides on buses but regular staff could only watch and walk and walk and walk. Also the food was great at Breakfast and Dinner….but LUNCH was a different story. Small amount of food given to us was not enough to get us through the day when hiking the grounds.

Very true about everything, although being in subcamp c3, we were close to the stadium, but not close to activities like biking, bmx, and the barrels.
