“Follow Me, Boys” Scout Troop Turns 100

It’s been 47 years since the Disney classic movie “Follow Me, Boys” hit theaters. (Ask your dad about it. Or your granddad. Chances are, they’ll remember it.)

The movie tells the story of a man who turns his life around when he becomes the Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout troop in a tiny town. It’s based on a book written by MacKinlay Kantor, who was chronicling his experience in his Boy Scout troop in Webster City, Iowa,

The real-life troop, now known as Troop 517, will celebrate its 100th birthday this weekend.

If you’ve never seen “Follow Me, Boys” you should check it out. It holds up quite well after 47 years.
