Troop 973’s adventure on rails

Scouts from Troop 973, Chicago, Ill., spend a day riding the motor cars of the historic Appanoose County Community Railroad while working on their Railroading merit badge and putting their own car on the tracks for the first time.

Watch video of one of the motor cars crossing a bridge, or click on the following photos to see Troop 973’s adventure on rails.

For more information about their railroading adventure, check out the August 2007 issue of Boys’ Life magazine.

  2. I loved the video on the bridge crossing. How did you came up with the Eagle Express?

I HAVE BEEN RIDING TRAINS ALL MY LIFE BUT MY TROOP WON’T GO FOR SOME REASON!

  4. Railroading was my son’s very first merit badge and so far he was the first and still is the only one in his troop to earn it. It was a nice write up. Our whole family loves riding trains and my husband is now a Railroading Counselor. Too bad they didn’t print a picture of the current Railroading Merit Badge, which has available in 2005 when my son earned the badge.

  5. i was on it and it was awesome. they were relly old and they cost alot. ( the badges on the train are stickers, they wernt painted).
