1984 Pontiac Fiero
The Fiero’s makers couldn’t decide whether they wanted a sports car or a fuel-efficient commuter. In the end, this lack of identity and severe cost-cutting killed Fiero’s chances at success. General Motors bought the engines in bulk, which meant they were poor quality. The rest of the car was essentially built from GM’s spare parts bin. When the Fiero debuted in 1984, critics called it “overweight and underpowered.” When engine fires became a problem, potential customers found other cars to buy.
By 88, the last year for the Fiero they had fixed the suspension and power, plans were to possibly offer a twin turbo charged 6 or a small block V8 ( which is being done to them now). These cars would have toasted a Corvette for 1/3 of the price. Chevy would not let that happen so they went away.
It used the Chevette engine, and it’s driveterain and location lead to cooling problems. It could’ve been a good car, but GM insisted for the Fierro to use the Chevette engine. Toyota saw it… and created the MR2…
it would have done good if it was better quality in my opinion
LOL wosrt car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I think it’s cool
It is not that bad if you get the specialy disigned tires for it.
Dad says it was big time junk.

saweet thunda-bird! even back then car producers were recycling minded. (using the scraps)

It was a good car except in the snow!
There were so many good kit car bodies available for this platform…
Not very cool, is it?
Beautiful but firey
haha i get it
this is bad?
Quite the contrary, the Pontiac Fiero is a very cool car. It’s the only mid-engined, 2-seater sports car that Detroit ever produced. The 2.8L V-6 GT solved the “underpowered” problem. (For “underpowered”, just drive a 1st generation Mustang / Camaro / Challenger.) Engine fires pale in comparison to Toyota’s “unintended acceleration” debacle. Get rid of Aztecs; bring the Fiero back :0)
Loved driving this car. My dad owned one as did my first boyfriend.
sweatest car ever from pontiac
