For a Klondike derby, always bring extra rope. A lot of extra rope.

in california a Klondike derby is a snow camp & competition. we’re going on one in a few weeks up in the Sierra Mountain and I think extra rope is a good idea so thanks!

How do you not know what a klondike derby is. It is a weekend camping trip where you compete in all different activities against other troops from your state.

For your information, a Klondike derby is a weekend camping trip where various scout troops compete in a variety of activities. You will always be competing against other troops from your state. This is a boy scout only event.
Bringing extra rope seems to be a good idea. Not only do you need to bring extra rope, though, you need to bring an assortment of extra supplies. I sometimes find that a lot of people aren’t really prepared, and end up asking others on the trip for supplies. I would advise anyone who plans to go to bring a little more than needed, because it is always better to have a little more than a little less!

I agree with Ryan. You should bring lots of rope, especially to the derby in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Climbing up the hill from the soccer field can get a little bit tiring, so try tying a rope around one of the trees behind the goal. And when you’re going down the big hill from the cabins and dining hall, don’t run. It’s not fun, believe me.

It is good to bring two sleeping pads and two sleping bags with blankets because trying to sleep cold is bad. If you pee before you go to bed you stay warmer too.
