Make a classic Soma puzzle




Looking for a homemade gift or just a fun game. Try making this classic Soma puzzle.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Saw
  • Wood glue
  • Sandpaper
  • Tape
  • Paint or oil finish
  • 16-inch-long board, 1 inch thick and at least 3 inches wide

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Step 1: Cut 27 1-inch-cube blocks

Step 2: Sand each piece

Step 3: Assemble and glue the 7 separate shapes A through G as shown. Use tape to hold the pieces together until they are dry.

Step 4: After the glue dries, remove tape and do a final sanding of the 7 puzzle pieces.

Step 5: Oil or paint the shapes.

TO PLAY

    This is cool, even though it isn’t a Rubik’s Cube, it is a good puzzle for PARTIES! And to out-smart the teacher.

    I made my own in a school class it doesn’t look that good because we didn’t have equal peices. This would have helped a while ago.

    you can use that to remember how to put it together.
    you could also make this out of cardboard cubes.

    For the younger cub scouts who don’t have access to a saw, you can purchase the cubes from hobby shops and craft stores. Michael’s is an excellent source for wooden shapes, including cubes.

      A) press ALT+r
      B) hilight every thing and right click and choss print
      you are welcom
