Heads Up

Happy 100th birthday, Scouting!

Scouts from around the world celebrated Scouting’s 100th anniversary today with sunrise ceremonies and other events.

The first Scout camp, led by Robert Baden-Powell, opened on England’s Brownsea Island on Aug. 1, 1907.

Today, about 300 Scouts from 160 countries gathered at Brownsea Island to commemorate that first camp. Another 40,000 participated at the nearby World Jamboree, and many more marked Scouting’s birthday with sunrise ceremonies at camps throughout the world.
