Raining Iguanas

South Florida is known for beautiful year-round weather, but a recent cold snap has something new in the forecast — iguanas.

When temperatures fall into the 40’s, the cold-blooded reptiles go into a deep sleep. An unusual cold front sent Florida’s nighttime temperatures into the 20’s and 30’s the past week. So, iguanas perched in trees during the day suddenly turned gray and lost their grip when it cooled down at night. The deep sleep sent them crashing from tree branches to the ground.
