Imagine walking 4,000 feet above the floor of the Grand Canyon on a walkway made of glass. Would you do it?
The Hualapai Indian tribe has built a massive glass-bottomed walkway, called the Skywalk, that extends about 70 feet out from the edge of the Grand Canyon.
When the Skywalk opens at the end of March, visitors will be able to walk out and look straight down at the canyon floor below their feet.
Now, I’m as sure-footed as the next burro, but this idea just makes my knees shake. I think I’ll stay here on solid ground.
That would be so scary! I have been to the grand canyon 5 years ago. NOW I WANT TO GO AGAIN!!
wow we wow we wow we wow we wow man that it cool standing on glass over the grand canyon.
Eli … they actually assembled the Skywalk on land and then slowly pushed it out over the edge of the canyon using a pulley system, four tractor-trailers and counterweights. Once it was in place, they welded it to steel anchors driven into the canyon walls.
SWEET!! I wonder how they got out there to make it?? I mean they have to get out there or they could have went the easy way…..(Helicopter)
