But where’s the cherry tree?

Researchers believe they have found the house where George Washington grew up.

After three years of study, archaeologists say they are confident that the ruins along the Rappahannock River in Virginia are Washington’s boyhood home. They hope that clues left in the remains of the home will help them better understand Washington’s childhood.

One thing they didn’t find is the stump of a cherry tree or a rusty ax. Historians believe that old story is just a legend.
