National Jamboree advice

Dear Pedro, I’m going to the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. It’s my first. Do you have any advice?

Yeah, have a blast and wear good walking shoes, John — you’ll cover a lot miles.

The Jamboree is a great experience. Be sure to participate in the “Wide Game” and collect all of the different trading cards from all 18 or so subcamps for a complete collection with all of your scout friends from all of the different subcamps. Earn the Wide Game participant patch at the Jamboree. Only the participants may earn the “wide game Jamboree Patch”. Visitors to the Jamboree may purchase the official jamboree patch at a local scout council or the jamboree subcamp trading post. However, the “wide game” jamboree patch is only earned by the actual jamboree participants. At some of the jamborees, the wide game cardboard trading cards have the names and addresses of scout jamboree pen-pals whom you may correspond with over the years and develop a great friendship with scouts who attended the jamboree that you attend such as in the National Jamboree in 2010.
