I collect miniature wildlife carvings made out of wood. I have miniature wood carvings of a wood duck, a mallard duck, a woodpecker, a loon, a Canada Goose, a stork, a Bald Eagle, a blue-jay songbird, a cardinal songbird and a Passenger Pigeon. Sometimes, the wood carver will sign the wood carving with the year that the carving was made and the wood carver’s signature. They are neat to collect. Some miniature wood carvings of ducks are all different sizes. Sometimes, they have woodcarving fairs and wood carving displays where I may purchase the miniature wildlife carvings such as at a local Waterfowl Festival.

I collect no longer used and discarded glass insulators that used to be used on telephone poles when the telephone companies used copper wire for telephone communications. The glass insulators are made by several different manufacturers and come in different shades such as green, clear, blue, purple and brown. The glass insulators sometimes are shaped slightly different from others depending on the manufacturer. By identifying the manufacturer and imprinted number identification on the glass insulator it is somewhat easy to identify if the glass insulator was made about 1907 or 1885.
