Two guys are driving through a small town when a tire goes flat. They check the tire and find a nail in it. After locating a garage, they go up to the mechanic.

“That’ll be $15,” the mechanic says.

“But I haven’t told you the problem yet,” one of the guys replies.

“What is it?” the mechanic asks.

“A flat tire,” the other guy says.

“That’s $15, and I don’t want you standing around watching me, so go over to that restaurant to wait.”

Puzzled, the two guys go to the restaurant. When the waitress comes to take their order, one of them asks, “What’s with the mechanic across the street?”

“That’s Frank,” the waitress says. “He puts nails in the road to drum up business.”

Outraged, the guys decide they’ll talk to Frank after breakfast. They order eggs for $5 each. Then the waitress comes back with the bill and says, “That’s $20.”

“But we only had $10 worth of eggs,” one guy says.

“I know,” the waitress says. “But it’s $10 for the eggs and $10 for the Pepto Bismol.”

“Why do we need Pepto Bismol?” the other guy asks.

The waitress replies: “Frank’s the cook, too.”
