Stuff We Like: WD-40 Bike Chain Lubricant

wd40-200x148You’ve probably heard of WD-40. It’s a spray-on lubricant that has been around forever and is useful on nearly everything — except bike chains. Some say that using it will actually just make more dirt and grime stick to your chain and slow you down. Now there’s WD-40 Bike Chain Lubricant ($9; wd40bike.com). Available in wet and dry formulations (choose wet for riding in mud and wet weather, dry for drier conditions), this lubricant has worked well in our field tests. Like most chain lube it is pretty expensive, but it will keep you rolling smooth and fast. Their website has lots of good maintenance tips, too.

  1. Using any lubricant with patrolium base is dirt magnet and will destroy your chain.
