Buttons on waterproof watch

Q. Hi Gear Guy, I’m a swimmer and our coach has us time our laps with wristwatches, but every waterproof watch I try, the buttons don’t work underwater. What can I do?

A. Yep, not only do the buttons on some waterproof watches not work underwater, on some watches the buttons aren’t even supposed be pressed while submerged or it could damage the watch. Silly, huh? Well, luckily I found the answer to your problems. Check out the Timex Ironman Sleek 150-Lap ($89; timexironman.com). This watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, and features a cool TapScreen Technology. Basically all you have to do to start and stop the stopwatch is tap the face of the screen. No button pushing at all! Cool huh. Though it’s listed at $90, I saw it at Amazon.com for $51. Check it out and keep up the swimming!
