Finally, an affordable wearable video camera! With this new Action Shot Camera ($50; actionshotcam.com) you don’t have to drop a lot of cash to start filming your adventures. You can strap this little round cam onto your bike helmet or stick it to your skateboard for POV action.
It’s super easy to operate — just one button to turn it on, another to start/stop filming. The Action Shot Camera includes a built-in microphone and shoots wide-angle video in two modes (up to 60 frames per second) as well as still photographs too. Although the photo quality is pretty low, the video quality is good (though a couple notches below the more expensive, popular GoPro cams).
You’ll want to buy at least a 2GB microSD card (as cheap as $5) for recording your action. You can also get extra accessories like a waterproof case ($20), high-impact case ($10) and a viewer attachment ($30) so you can see your footage, on the spot. But the good news is you don’t need to have any of that stuff. For about $50, the basic kit has everything you’ll need to get rolling.
