I like what Ken had to say about how he approaches subjects – he doesn’t just tell you what he already knows but wants you to have the experience of discovery as he has it. As a beginning documentary filmmaker myself, it’s good to know that the pro doesn’t talk from up high, but is right there with the learning himself. Thats why Ken’s stuff is so powerful.

we did this summer and loved it, and was pleased to see this story in the boy’s life magazine last month. but this group should’ve tried for 185 in 5 days, and if i was alone i’d be done in 3. maryland’s a great place for cycling, i can’t wait to go back sometime and do it again
Our Trooop 11 is currently working on the Cycling MB. I am an Asisstant Scoutmaster, and I’ve gone on two bike hikes with the Troop. (One 10, one 15 miles).
i think that was an amazing bike trip the boy scouts did did.

7 Days is just right! If you feel the need set speed records, then the sign up for a race! Try canoeing the Potomac River next to the towpath…it’s beautiful and fun! Watch out for dams and Great Falls.
Our troop did this in 2008 and had a blast!! We didn’t shoot any video but took lots of pictures.
7 days is too easy. do it in 3 and go all the way from pittsburg to D.C in 6.
Our troop went on a day ride that was 62 miles. We went on the Coeur d’ Alene River Trail in Idaho. We saw Moose, Blue Heron, Beaver, and Eagle on the trail.

Hey! I really enjoy the Harry Potter Series, they are my favorite books and movies of ALL TIME! I’ve read each book at least 10x and seen the movies what seems like millions of times, even though all the books are done, I will always read these…Someday I will give them to my kids to read and see their oppinions. lol i did this at my friends house because i knew he had tons of goldfish and i peeled a carrot at my house (which took several tries to get it perfect) and i took it to my friends house and i said “hey look goldfish!” and i did what the guy did in the video and i ate the carrot and my friend was like “OH MY GOSH YOU ATE MY FISH!” and i started to LOL! then i told him the joke and he started to lol too. it was fun.
Man I would totally do that except the carrot has been in fishwater.
this trick is fine as long as you don’t have a problem with eating a piece of carrot that’s been in fish water. 
Your friends will be surprised and disgusted when you grab a live goldfish and eat it.
At my camp we have one of those things that they called the blob and there was some guy fishing off of it and me and six of my friends jumped on it and he went flying.LOL!
it was awesome…..it was actualy pretty cool…….i like it when you guys got on one side of the baloon and they other jumped and the other guy flew in they air….ha….ha…ha…ha…ha…ha…ha
Hey it’s worth noting that this council also does a similar week for older Scouts called Chisholm Trail Adventure. The Scouts are able to visit these same areas and some others. Very cool stuff! I’d take my troop!!!!

YEAHHH….i have been waiting for this to hit…i am one of the venturer’s that took part in the road to ranger program…i have to say it was a real great experience to participate on the pilot course and get to try things that may be changed in the future depending how things went. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to try something new.
This is teriffic ! ! ! Why don’t all Scout camps hold a Road to Ranger week or long weekend?

I am one of the Cavalry staff members in the video and was I suprised when I heard that Boy’s Life was coming to visit our outpost. Our Lt. was a great instructor and sure made things as real as possible.

Sounds like you went cheap and got the ten dollar one. It has a normal pen cartridge and is made in China. The US made one has much better materials and actually is a space pen. Oh, and the arms are not unnecessary. This knife is intended to be flipped like a butterfly knife. You also would have gotten an instructional video if you had gotten the US made version.
ANY PEN can do that. and 25 bucks? Rip off. Thats almost as bad as wal-mart.

Kinda light weight compared to a butterfly knife, but still pretty fun to manipulate. It definitely takes some getting used to.

yes we ended up making it to the top the filmers could not make it though so we did not get any footage it was an amazing time and we plan on going back to spanish peaks this year to do the blanca basin hike!

Yes we made it to the top. It was a great view and well worth the effort. I climbed the same peak 35 years ago but I think it was smaller back then.

I think that this is a good thing. Although I feel that if there were better footage from outside the vehicle those that have negative responses would change their tone. Also those with negative comments need to understand what this is about, a learning process on what can happen with distractions, and it was in a controlled enviroment with safety in mind.

‘when i was in 4th grade i climbed mt Rainer in Washington I am 18 now and have climbed Mt. Everest.
I have always enjoyed climbing. Since the 5th grade (I’m in 7th grade now) I have always wanted to climb a mountain. At first, I thought I was just some ridiculous dreamer. I also live in Kentucky. Not many mountains here. I just climb a pine tree in my yard. But listening to this interview has inspired me to actually find a mountain and climb it. (Obviously not a huge one like Johnny)and I’ll just keep pressing on.
