Tackling the trail at Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch

The Scouts from Troop 776, Goddard, Kan., took at four-day backpacking trek through the backcountry at Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch near Walsenburg, Colo., last summer.

Their goal was to climb 12,683-foot East Spanish Peak in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Not exactly your traditional summer camp experience.

Watch this video of Troop 776 on the trail, and then check out the February 2009 issue of Boys’ Life to learn more about cool summer camp experiences.

    Guys,

I hope you enjoyed the Peaks. It was my home camp as a boy, and now as an adult leader, I pray that I can take my new troop there to experience the wonder that is Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch. Keep the faith and stay in Scouting forever!
