Troop and Crew 58 made a trip north to Pittsburgh, NH (six miles from Canada), earning them the 50-Miler Award. They wrote to us about their incredible trip and we wanted to share it to inspire your next great adventure!⠀ ....⠀ On the first day, we set up camp and went fishing. That night the sky was so clear we could see the Milky Way above us while we sat around the campfire. On the second day, we canoed and kayaked around the lake until we came to the state campground. We stopped and talked to the rangers, who were happy to see Scouts enjoying the Great North Woods. ⠀ ⠀ Over the next couple of days, we explored most of the coves on the lake. We saw loons, eagles and ducks every time we went out. The eagles would fly right over our campsite. ⠀ ⠀ We ate really well while we were camping. We had Coca-Cola chicken, Dutch-oven meals and even a turkey cooked in a cardboard box. ⠀ ⠀ We hiked the Moose Alley Trail out to a waterfall. We also hiked Mount Magalloway, a steep trail that leads up to a fire tower, which we were able to climb. We then hiked to a rock ledge looking over the mountains. We visited the 45th parallel, which is the halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator. It was marked by a chainsaw carving of Big Foot along with other animals native to the area. On the last day, NH Fish and Game Officer, Chris Egan, presented Kyle Dimick with the Medal of Merit for his actions at the scene of a serious car accident on the interstate. ⠀ ⠀ Everyone had a great time. We traveled a total of 53 miles, and we were even able to earn some merit badges throughout the week. There’s nothing like camping in northern New Hampshire!⠀ ⠀ You can find a video of the trip on our Insta: @troopcrew58⠀ ⠀ We are looking forward to our next adventure,⠀ ⠀ Troop/Crew 58⠀ ⠀ #adventure #Scouts #Scouting
