Photos from Troop 187’s cross-country skiing trek

In the Rocky Mountains in the middle of winter, there’s no better way to get from point A to point B than on a pair of skis.

For the older Scouts of Troop 187 in Breckenridge, Colorado, cross-country skiing is pretty much like backpacking. They live at 9,600 feet in a region that gets more than 300 inches of snow every year, and they spend most of their time on skis. Their most recent cross-country trek took them through the Colorado backcountry to several huts in the middle of the Rocky Mountains.

Take a look at photos from their adventure and read more about it in the January 2015 issue of Boys’ Life magazine.

If your prepared… Winter Camping is the best. Our unit Slept under the stars in the snow, and it was magic. Snow Shoe’s are the next best thing to ski’s. Easy to make…. and a fun winter survival activity, along with shelter building, etc.etc. GREAT TREK PHOTO’S OF TROOP 187! Its the stuff Scouts dream about.
