Bryce Thornton, a Boy Scout from Troop 48 in Eagle Point, Ore., is serious about supporting U.S. soldiers who are stationed overseas. What started out as a Christmas project in 2009 is now almost a full-time job.
It all started nearly two years ago, when a friend of Bryce’s father posted some pictures from Afghanistan on the Internet. Bryce had the idea to send the friend a care package, then he quickly realized it wouldn’t be fair to send a package to this one person without sending something to the troops with her.
What started as one care packaged quickly turned into more than 700. So Bryce started going door to door, looking for donations for both goods and the cash to pay for the postage required to ship the goods overseas.
He shipped 754 boxes for Christmas 2009, 250 boxes during the summer of 2010 and more than 1,000 boxes for Christmas 2010.
Bryce’s work continues to this day. Find out how you can help the cause by clicking here.
