Scout Helps Navy Families Be Prepared

Boy Scout Joshua Hawken from Monroe, Wash., knows all about Being Prepared. Now he’s sharing that knowledge with families at a Naval Air Station near his hometown.

Joshua, 11, passed out 100 emergency preparedness kits to families who live at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island near Oak Harbor, Wash. The $50 kits, produced by American Preparedness, include a flashlight, body warmers, a poncho, an emergency blanket, a safety whistle, food, water and other emergency equipment.

After Joshua raised enough to funds to pay for the first batch of kits, he decided to keep the project going. Read all about how he’s doing it here.
