How to Make a Duct-Tape Wallet
Duct tape comes in 2-inch-wide rolls and is available in many colors. Here’s how to use some to make this handy duct-tape wallet that will last for years.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE A DUCT-TAPE WALLET
- Duct tape
- Ruler
- Scissors or utility knife
WHAT YOU’LL DO TO MAKE A DUCT-TAPE WALLET
Step 1: Cut four strips of duct tape, each 9″ long. With the adhesive side up, stick the duct-tape strips to one another in a row, with a 1⁄4” overlap.
Step 2: Make a second sheet. Carefully stick the adhesive sides of the two duct-tape sheets together, lining up the edges.
Step 3: Cut another 9″ strip of duct tape. Use a utility knife or scissors to make a small cut in the center of one end of the duct tape. Tear the strip into two straight 1″ strips.
Step 4: Fold and adhere the 1″ duct-tape strips to the 9″ ends of the sheet. This will make a smooth, clean finished edge.
Step 5: Using the scissors or utility knife, trim the sides of the sheet, making it 8 1/2″ wide.
Step 6: Fold the sheet in half.
Step 7: Tear two 1″ x 4″ duct-tape strips and attach one to each end. Fold them over the sides of the wallet, and trim the excess.
Step 8: To make a smaller pocket for cards, cut two strips of tape each 5″ long and stick the two pieces (adhesive sides) together.
Step 9: Fold and adhere a 1″ strip onto the 5″ edge. Trim the pocket to 4″ long.
Step 10: Using 1⁄2″ strips of duct tape, stick the pocket in place as shown above. Trim the strips flush.
Your duct-tape wallet is complete!

Boring… 😆
Yes it was frustrating but fun it turned out really cool
I gave it to my friend. it was fun to make
Pretty good! We made one awhile back and I still have it. We added washi tape to it. Other wise used gray duct tape. 😅😅
Dude I love my new wallet it looks so cool, was cheap to make and all I had to use was stuff laying around the house. But it did take a while. Though it was totally worth it!!!!
Made this wallet for my 5 year old son. It was pretty easy to make and looks pretty cool! Took me about 20 minutes but I’m sure if I did it again I could do it in 10 minutes. Thanks!
what does 10 long mean?
10″ means 10 inches.
ten inches
It was so hard to do and i didnt get it i jusf wasted my tape for this junk
I agree
These steps are THE WORST!!! Some of the steps don’the correspond to the pictures which makes it VERY CONFUSING!!!!!
So confusing, can’t figure out at all.
Really easy ,used to be a boy scout .I made a duct tape money clip
Thank you so much. It came out awesome.
But like they said it was hard but so worth it.
I made one of these when I went to Europe and after a few modifications it looks great.
I made one and it is AWSOME I have had it for about 7 years and I use it every day and it still looks totally brand new. I give it a 5.5 stars out of 5
Okay, but hard
If you add thick tin foil between the layers of the duct tape it becomes an RFID wallet. I tested this at work with a card reader.
How thick of tin foil did you use for the wallet?
I am helping 24 4th graders do this project tomorrow…… OMG!!! I hope I don’t grow gray hair while helping them…LOL
I made one for my sister and she loved it! I am very happy with the overall wallet. I did make a few changes, but otherwise I stuck to the original design. I give this five stars!
Hard but soo worth it
I’ll try it once I have time. Looks cool though!
This didn’t work at all terrible.
Boring

Awful.
It is not too bad
You shouldn’t make the wallets so big it should be only like 7 and a half inches long.
It is HORRIBLE
That was really helpful tank you!!!
Sup
I like this design a lot! I have made some changes, primarily lengthing the wallet so it can have three pockets, which will make it smaller in the long run when you fold it, but other then that this has been great!
it is very awsome
I love this wallet!!!!!!It works!
this is very cool!!!!!
wow that is good and $cheap$
i loved it! very easy and simple.:);)
this is really fun to make. I added an ID slot using clear packing tape and attaching it using the same steps in step 10

Sorta confusing but awesome
Very confusing, but is prettu cool!!
I build duck tape wallets with different directions. These are definitely for younger children.

Great! Worked out well for me. I get paid, like, $5/wallet
it is hard at first due to the stickiness, but gets easier as you go. I made one for the first time and I did it by myself in about 25 minutes at age 12.
