Sanderling

I woke up at 5:30am to drive to Island Beach State Park in NJ to photograph some Snowy Owls. I walked several miles down the windy beach in 10°F weather. I sadly did not find any Snowy Owls that day, but I did see a group of Sanderling patrolling the freezing beach for sand crabs. I decided to take photos of them. They would walk right up to me like we had an agreement, I let them be and they pose for the photos.
