Protect Your Melon

NEWS FLASH! Wearing a helmet while snowboarding and skiing is cool — and mandatory. Whoever tells you otherwise is a total kook. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a first-timer, do yourself a favor and protect your melon.

These days helmets are more comfortable than ever and actually help keep your head warm. One of our favorites is the 19-ounce Smith Holt ($75; smithoptics.com) which has detachable ear pads, is compatible with goggles and has plenty of ventilation. Best of all, with its swappable pad system, the Holt can also be used for skateboarding in the summer.

Coolness is amazing and helmets are cheap.

You want to make sure you wear protective gear. I went skiing and I can tell you first-hand wiping out on a black diamond course is painful, and there are trees near sharp turns. I once saw someone who couldn’t turn fly into the treeline. WEAR A HELMET!!!

  3. cool.
