JOTA Participation Soars; Be Prepared For Next Year

Jamboree-on-the-Air is an annual event in October of each year during which Scouts use amateur radio to communicate with other Scouts around the world. The numbers from the 2012 JOTA event are in, and it looks like more and more Scouts are joining in on the fun.

More than 18,000 Scouts participated, a 500 percent increase from the year before. Scouts from 136 different councils and 41 different states got to share ideas and tell Scouting stories to old and new friends across the globe.

Interested in participating in the next JOTA? Contact your local council for information on Scout-related amateur radio clubs. Or, grab a trusted adult and head over to the American Radio Relay League website and click on their “find a club” link.
