Make a classic Soma puzzle
Looking for a homemade gift or just a fun game. Try making this classic Soma puzzle.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Saw
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper
- Tape
- Paint or oil finish
- 16-inch-long board, 1 inch thick and at least 3 inches wide
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Step 1: Cut 27 1-inch-cube blocks
Step 2: Sand each piece
Step 3: Assemble and glue the 7 separate shapes A through G as shown. Use tape to hold the pieces together until they are dry.
Step 4: After the glue dries, remove tape and do a final sanding of the 7 puzzle pieces.
Step 5: Oil or paint the shapes.
TO PLAY
See if you can assemble the pieces into a cube. In addition to building the cube, you can click here to learn to make other Soma structures.
