    Dear Boy’s Life,
After listening to the PodAsk about electric cars, I remembered that I had previously written an essay about electric cars in school. I remember the electric cars are different because a fundamental car (internal combustion engine) use an alternator to transform the motion into energy to be stored in the cars battery. My essay touched upon the smaller environmental footprint of electric cars and how different they are. The manufacturing process of the lithium batteries actually isn’t that great for the environment. Over time however, as your car is chugging along on gas, the environmental footprint is a lot smaller. You also touched onto the range and speed of the electric cars. I think hybrids were a great innovation to the automobile industry as they allowed for fuel efficient driving. The Prius for example, back in around 2010 had the ability to go around 40 miles per gallon. On top of that, the Chevy volt uses a very smart electric motor with a gasoline generator that makes electricity to keep the car moving. In my essay, another point I made was that they are a lot easier to manage, as traditional cars have a lot of pieces that go into the engine whereas the electric cars don’t have this issue. They have very few pieces in their electric drive train which saves a lot of time with repairs. I think electric cars are going into a great direction and I even titled my essay “The Dawn of an Electric Age”. Thank you for your informative podcast and have a nice day.
